Following the Light from the Dark: A different Kind of Christian

In case you visit this blog by the first time, or you’ve been here before and haven’t figured out by now, I’m a Goth. And I’m also a Christian.

You might think there is some sort of contradiction there and if you were to listen what most people see as either Goth or Christian you would be right to think so.

But the truth is Goth is not limited by society’s rules about religion or politics to name a few. It is a subculture where the individual is allowed and finds freedom to see things in a different way. Is one of many beautiful things about being Goth. You also have to have the ability to see beauty in what other people might be afraid of, just because they can’t understand.

Now onto the Christian subject. I don’t believe in religion, I believe it is only a corruption of the true message Jesus was trying to give. But I do believe in spirituality. I also believe with all my heart that God loves us no matter who we are, or what we might look like.

The way to follow Jesus is with actions, with faith. What’s on the outside doesn’t matter. For normal people the ideals or the Goth appearance might not be acceptable, but it doesn’t matter. For everyone is welcome by Him.

So yeah, you can follow Jesus and still being you. You don’t have to change who you are, other than follow his message. Change your actions. Be at peace with others. Pray. And act by doing things that you know would please Him.

And just because you  decided to be a Christian doesn’t mean you have to leave your clothes, your music, your beliefs behind, unless of course, they go against what’s right.

“Let every man abide in the same calling wherein he was called.” (1 Corinthians, 7:20)

Many people will try to change you. Bad called Christians will try to make you think there’s something wrong with who you are just by looking at you. Believe me, there is not. Whatever is wrong with you now is deep inside, and is the only thing you need to change.

People will criticize you, but have in mind they criticized Jesus too a long time ago, when he spent time with those who were undesirable by society back then.

But how will you know what’s right and wrong in your heart? By praying. Talk to the Lord, ask him for guidance, but do it with absolute faith to know the answer. And you’ll know you’re doing good when there is peace inside you, when you do something and you have no doubts about it.

I’m telling you all this things from my own experiences. Like you, and everyone else, I had dealt with suffering, I had my heart broken, people turned away from me. Those things hurt, and being on the dark side of society makes it really easy for us to harm ourselves and others.

But if you can hold on, at your most dark hour to the One who will never leave you, He’ll rescue you and lead you back to safety and peace.

Don’t be ashamed of who you are, cause the only one you need to really please is God. Instead, try to changing people’s misconception of who you are by showing them all the good things you can do, and along the way they’ll realize what Jesus is doing with you.

Being in the dark has also given you the tools to see what most people wouldn’t see. You can understand pain, suffering, and the temptations that come within. If you decide to follow Jesus then it means you already conquered those things, and your experience can help others.

It is by your actions that you’ll reach His glory, and you might turn non believers into believers.

But if people rejects you regardless, doesn’t matter. You know very well who is the One that will always welcome you to His presence.Hola! Este es el primero de lo que espero serán muchos posts acerca de la Cristiandad, desde una perspectiva diferente a la que talvez estás acostumbrado. Mis palabras no las tomes de manera religiosa (odio la religión), sino de manera espiritual.
